Sree Subrahmanya Swami Temple is an ancient temple located at Payyannur in the Kannur district in Kerala. The temple is believed to be built by Lord Parasurama. Even Hindu Puranas have references about this Sree Subrahmanya Swami Temple and the place where it located. An idol of 1.8 meter height is a great feature of this shrine. The priest needs to stand in front of the idol in order to perform the poojas. The temple was destroyed by Tipu Sultan but rebuilt it later. Pilgrims need to travel almost 1 ½ kilometers from payyannur bus stand to reach this temple.
